Applications

Designed for the joints of new watertight concrete structures. Excellent for sealing around pipes penetrating walls and ground-level concrete slabs. Excellent for sealing joints between precast concrete elements. Material used for sealing interlocking joints in sheet piles. Applicable horizontally, vertically, or on overhead surfaces. In existing construction, ideal for waterproofing joints between fresh concrete and hardened concrete.

Advantages

Swelling of up to 100% in potable water, and slightly less in salt water and wastewater. Permanent waterproofing against water, with no leaching or dissolving in water. Joint sealing capacity up to a pressure of 345 KPa (50 psi) or a hydrostatic head of 35 m (115 ft). Elastic product — able to withstand consecutive wet and dry cycles. Easy, simple application. Can be adapted on the jobsite to better meet the requirements. No nails, adhesive, or hooks required. Able to expand in order to avoid cracking fresh concrete. Resistance to various chemicals. Thixotropic properties that allow SikaSwell S-2 to seal joints with an irregular surface. Very economical product. Reduces the labor required by eliminating the slot forming, groove reversal, heat welding, adjustments, and special ties to reinforcement associated with conventional PVC waterstops. No mixing required. Allows greater vibration of the concrete at the joints, resulting in better concrete consolidation and contributing to superior joint waterproofing.
